Calls for Impeachment of President Milei Amid Scandals

Alicia Castro, former Argentine ambassador to Venezuela, expressed her opinion that President Javier Milei "will end his career for a financial crime." She joined a call for an event that will take place on Thursday, near Congress, to demand the political trial of Milei, following the 'cryptogate' incident and the promotion of the memecoin $LIBRA by the president.

In an interview with Noticias Argentinas, Castro recalled that last year she and constitutional lawyer Eduardo Barcesat, former judge Carlos Rozanski, and lawyer Maximiliano Rusconi submitted a request for political trial due to the non-compliance of public officials that they consider grounds according to the National Constitution.

"What we have been waiting for a year is for them to activate the political trial commission in the Chamber of Deputies and to start addressing and analyzing the different cases we have presented," pointed out the former ambassador.

Castro added that "there is no one in their right mind who can argue that Milei is innocent" since "he has violated not only the laws but public trust." Moreover, she compared the president to Al Capone, the American mobster, due to his admiration for him and suggested that Milei could end up like Al Capone, imprisoned for tax evasion.

Several names joined the call, such as Hugo Godoy (CTA), Adolfo Pérez Esquivel (Nobel Peace Prize), Claudio Lozano (former director of Banco Nación), and Rafael Klejzer (Movimiento Popular La Dignidad), who will be present at the event on Thursday at 6 PM in the Plaza de los Dos Congresos. The presence of political figures, social organizations, human rights defenders, unions, and student groups is expected to support the call for political trial against Milei.

"A president who starves children, leads cancer patients to death, plunders our goods and public companies, and takes Argentina into isolation and ridicule will end his presidential career for a financial crime," concluded Castro. Recently, the parliamentary opposition of Unión por la Patria (UxP) has submitted a request for political trial following the crypto-scam.
